Things I’m Loving in August

Hey guys! Starting a new series where I update my favorite “trends” for the month. Let me know what you think!

FASHION

First off: Drop Sweater Cardigan

I’ve been loving this summer to fall transition piece! Literally so cute for fall as the weather cools down.

How I would style:

This piece is honestly perfect for any outfit to add on an extra layer. Throw it over a sundress or tank to cover up your shoulders. I’m loving the matching sets below from ASOS and Lioness. These mini cardigans are a great way to elevate any outfit.

BOOTS

I have a newfound love for boots as of recently. I was hesitant to hop on the Cowboy boot trend, but I’ve finally caved. They’re cute and they’re not going anywhere. My fav boots are def the ASOS boots (first pic, linked below), they’re a great dupe for Naked Wolfe boots (which are pricey af). Boots are so versatile, you can style them with jeans, a skirt, a dress, etc. My fav look rn is flare pants with platform boots and a simple tank. I’ve also had my eye on some platform loafers, however I have yet to buy. Keeping my eyes out for a good deal/deciding if I like them.

Flare/Wide Leg Pants

I got my first pair of flare pants last winter and I’m obsessed. Def a trend I’m carrying into this fall season. Flare pants or trousers are great for every occasion and can easily be dressed up or dressed down.

Dress it casual:

Statement flares with a graphic tee and shoulder bag are a fall closet staple. Super comfy and cute!

Dress it up:

Wide leg trousers with a plain bodysuit and leather blazer are perfect for your profesh endeavors. Don't forget you can be stylish at work too! Throw on a statement necklace or earrings for an extra pop.

Plus, they make your butt look great.

Varsity/Racer Jackets

This is not a new trend by any means. But it’s been all over my Pinterest lately so I had to mention it. Honestly, varsity jackets can be super pricey. Your best bet for affordability is at the thrift store or Depop. Bonus points for sustainability. However, not every thrift store has the best options and Depop can get expensive too. I’ve linked my fav finds in stores below. I think these style best oversized.

BEAUTY

Now for my favorite beauty products this month, I gotta start off with Hyaluronic Acid. My personal favorite is The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum. It works amazing and it’s only seven dollars. I’ve restocked on this product five times since I first used it. It lasts you a long time, I’ve just been a die hard fan.

I have super oily skin and this serum helps me so much. This Hyaluronic Acid will replenish moisture and help maintain healthy looking skin. This paired with my next favorite is my go-to formula for no makeup days.

It is the great Glossier futuredew oil serum hybrid. This serum is packed with plant based extracts that help your skin look bright and dewy all day. This is a holy grail combo for oily skin or anyone looking for a super dewy, natural look. Shop futuredew here

Next up is a makeup trend i’ve been in love with since Lollapalooza, when I started doing it. I first saw this trick popping up on TikTok makeup tutorials. I used to use white eyeliner in eighth grade (yikes), so I was hesitant to jump on the bandwagon. However, this hack is amazing for brightening up the eyes and making them look slightly bigger.

The eyeliner I’ve been obsessed with is the Makeup Revolution Kohl Liner. Let me just tell you, if an eyeliner can last you a full day of sweating in a mosh pit. It’s a keeper.

Speaking of TikTok trends, I’ve somehow made my way onto ShowerTok. Which is not as weird as it seems, it’s basically just a video of someone showing their shower products (in an aesthetic af way). These videos are addicting and I love when they show up on my feed. Tree Hut Sugar Scrubs are all over these videos and I’ve been thinking about buying one for months now. I finally did and let me tell you - it’s worth the hype. I use this before I shave or whenever I feel I need to exfoliate. Smells amazing and leaves your legs soft asf.

I personally love the cotton candy scrub, however it’s not for everyone. They have a huge variety of scents and other products as well. I found my scrub at Ulta, but I think you can find them at almost every store with a beauty isle.

If you haven’t heard of this Korean beauty tip by now, you’re gonna love it. I had seen this trend all over the internet for months before I finally decided to try it myself. Some people are skeptic of its effectiveness. However, I use mine in the morning to depuff my face and it works like a charm. I’ve seen a slight difference in my face overtime in just over all shaping. My jaw is more sculpted, my eyes are less puffy, seriously you need to try it.

Last beauty trend I’ve been loving is my Shampoo massager. I’ve had mine since Christmas, but I felt it needed to be mentioned in this post since I’ve never made of these. I’ve struggled for yearsssssss to grow my hair and I’ve made a few changes this year that have kept my hair decently long and healthy. I’ve done so much damage to my hair over the years, I do everything I can to keep it healthy. I’m planning on doing a blog post detailing my haircare routine and journey so stay tuned for that!

The shampoo massager helps stimulate your hair follicles for growth and it’s extremely relaxing. I got mine from Amazon for pretty cheap.
