Getaway is a band concept I formed to work on album cover art. Each member of the band was given a unique story. Despite their turbulent Chicago upbringings, Stevie Loom, Jake Farber, Matty Frey, and James Legrand join together to express their feelings through music and connect with others.

Album one addresses guitar player, Stevie Loom’s issues with his father leaving at a young age. Bottled Abandonment is an ode to his father’s substance abuse issues. Each song directly relates to a feeling of abandonment experienced by each of the band members.

Getaway’s sophomore album relates to the trials and tribulations of growing up. The concept of “being average” is uncovered through each song, telling the story of each unique upbringing of the band members as they navigate Chicago in the 90s and early 00s.
